02 / Why SOMA
Not another kitesurf board. A different way of thinking.
Traditional board construction leaves relatively little room to rethink how a board is structured from the inside out. SOMA takes a different approach. By combining digital design, additive manufacturing and a biomechanical understanding of movement, the board can be shaped around the interaction between rider, board and water. The goal is simple: less distraction, more connection, more flow.

As a physiotherapist and lifelong kitesurfer, I’ve always been fascinated by movement. Not just human movement but the interaction between rider, board and ocean. SOMA began as a personal pursuit: can a board be designed around the body instead of forcing the body to adapt to the board? That question became SOMA.

Testing never stops.
Every SOMA shape starts digitally and ends in real water. Each adjustment is printed, tested and evaluated on the water before the next version is developed.
